New World Order Director Confirms Marvel Movie Villain (Exclusive)

At this weekend’s D23 Expo in Anaheim, Marvel fans received plenty of new updates about several upcoming Marvel Studios projects, including those eagerly anticipated. Captain America: New World Order. During Saturday’s Marvel premiere, the film’s cast was announced, including the return of Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradly, and Danny Ramirez as Falcon. It was also announced that Shira Hass will make her MCU debut as Israeli superhero Sabra, but perhaps the biggest surprise was the announcement of Tim Blake Nelson’s return as lead. Now, the film’s director, Julius Onah, confirms phase zero Brandon Davis hosts ComicBook.com that The Leader is indeed the movie’s villain – and will present a real challenge to the new Captain America.

“Let’s just say that one of the things that really attracted me to this project is that the leader is a guy who works through thought, and so it’s great to have an opponent who works with that amazing thought to be able to really, you know, put Sam on the stick in this story,” said Una. And again, as a paranoid thriller, it’s this earthly adventure where I think everything that happens in this movie feels real and intense, because of who that antagonist is. So, going back to your other question, what he has to go through in this movie is That he has a terrifyingly intelligent opponent.”

The last time Marvel fans saw Nelson, the character was still simply Samuel Stearns Incredible Hulk More than 14 years ago, when he was attacked by an abomination, and in the process, a portion of Bruce Banner’s blood wound on Stearns’ forehead, beginning his transformation into the leader. While it would be interesting to see what happened with that character in the years since his last appearance in the MCU, it looks like he’ll also just be part of a lot of things that will be on the table in New world system.

“There is a lot to bring to the table,” Onah said. “And this is a new set of challenges and a new set of enemies. I love classic paranoid thrillers and that’s a big part of the inspiration for this movie. We want to find grounded action and give it new things to do that we haven’t seen in those other films, and I don’t want to spoil it.” Lots, but let’s just say we’re planning some really exciting things.

Captain America: New World Order Follows Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) after he finally takes on the mantle of twinkling stars The Hawk and the Winter Soldier. Together with Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), along with US Agent (White Russell), and Sharon Carter (Emily VanCamp), they manage to defeat Flag Smashers. However, the status of the two main characters remains up in the air. For example, the American agent is appointed by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), and Sharon Carter’s role as the power broker is revealed. Sharon now works for the US government, which gives her access to privileged information.

Captain America: New World Order It opened in theaters on May 3, 2024.
